A Dundalk firefighter was injured at the scene of a car incident due to the wreckless actions of one individual last week.
The Fire Service crew closed the Armagh Road for the purposes of managing a car fire incident in the Carnbeg area at around 10pm, last Wednesday night. .
However one driver refused to use an alternative route, mounted the verge and drove through the incident scene, including fire service cones and signs.
A fire-fighter had to take action to remove himself from the path of the vehicle which resulted in a sprained knee.
He was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda but was released on Thursday morning . He is likely to be out of work for a number of weeks.
