THE Monastery national school Ardee, who won the FAI North Leinster five-aside soccer competition for medium sized schools, are in the Leinster final at the MDL grounds at Navan this Thrusday 16 May.

This is a magnificent achievement by Monastery for as Mick Neville of the FAI said it has been many years since any Louth primary school reached the final.

After qualifying at local level Monastery beat teams from Longford, Westmeath and Meath to reach the Leinster final.

In the first game of the North Leinster ties they played Stonepark NS Longford and had a comfortable win by 7 goals to 1.

In their second game they beat the favourites Gaelscoil an Mhuilinn from Mullingar 1-0.

In the final Monastery beat a skilful Kilcloon team from Meath 3-2 in the game of the tournament.

So good luck to everyone this Thursday.
