Blackrock Seaside Festival is bouncing back again this year and preparing for a fantastic lineup of events.
The festival is preparing for its third year and is planning for a fantastic line-up of events over the weekend this Saturday, 16 August and Sunday, 17 August. There are plenty of fun activities planned for the weekend including lots of fun for family, childrens competitions, crafts and lots of live music.
The ladies from Blackrock ICA are also holding a Summer Craft Market from 12 - 6pm each day of the festival including Friday, 15 August. The market will be held in a “pop-up” shop, behind Centra, in what used to be Harrison’s Off-licence.
Competitions taking placeat the festival will include Louths Stongest, Tug ‘O’ War and beach volley ball.
Felda Health Fitness and Spa are sponsoring the Louths Strongest competition and there will be two events taking place on the Sunday afternoon, one for women and one for men. The first prize in each category is twelve months free membership to Felda Health Fitness and Spa.
The Tug ‘O’ War competition is on Saturday 16th August at 3pm on the beach.Teams are limited to six people plus one coach and must include two females and two subs. Team colors and protective clothing are to be worn and the cost of entry is €50 per team and can be paid to Cafe Acqua.
There is a great line -up of free live music on the beach stage for both days. On Saturday music will start from 7pm and include live sets from Joe’s Garage, The Rollers,
The Gakk, Richard Richard and The Flaws. Meanwhile on Sunday music will begin at 3pm and include acts such as David Keenan, Cian Finn, Manifesto, Duct Tape and Prayers, The Bonnevilles, Beached Whales and the Full Moon Boogie Band.
