Dundalk based singer-songwriter Finnian Kelleher, who is fast gaining a reputation as one of the hardest working singer songwriters to emerge from the North East in years, is launching his first EP in the Spirit Store on Friday, 31 January.
Finnian has just finished supporting The High Kings on an amazing sold out Irish tour covering the whole country in some very prestigious venues where he was highly received.
Also In the past few months, he’s supported the likes of Gemma Hayes, Gareth Dunlop, Grainne Duffy, Gavin Glass and Stewart Agnew, to name a few; along with having the honour of a slot at this years Electric Picnic.
Growing up in town, it was his almost religious past time of listening to music that really swayed him into picking up the guitar and singing along.
On a strict diet of Pearl Jam, Ryan Adams, Paul Weller and Bruce Springsteen; he began to dedicate more time to perfecting the craft of songwriting and honing his own voice. It’s an unmistakable drawl that bends from a gravelly affected tone to an almost jovial folky timbre.
Armed with a handful of songs, in January 2013 Finnian took his work to Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin where he began the long hard slog of recording his debut album. The versatility of his music touches genres of folk, rock and soul and the songs are filled with snapshots and images from his own personal journey. A unique talent driven by passion and love for his trade, continues to write, sing and play from the heart. His songs are available to stream from his Soundcloud account and you can check out what he’s at on his Facebook page too as both are updated weekly.
Tickets are €8 and available online at www.spiritstore.ie and McAteers Food House.
