Preparations are well on target for the opening of Dundalk on Ice at the Market Square on Saturday, 23 November with project leader Martin McEligott confirming the 2013 price structure, as promised, greatly reduced from last year’s project.

Preparations are well on target for the opening of Dundalk on Ice at the Market Square on Saturday, 23 November with project leader Martin McEligott confirming the 2013 price structure, as promised, greatly reduced from last year’s project.

Prices for an hour long skating session at this year’s Dundalk on Ice will now be €6.95 for children under 12 (compared with €10 last year), €9.95 for adults (compared with €12 last year), and €25 for a family of four (compared with €35 last year) with €5 per child thereafter.

Martin explained it was always the intention of Dundalk on Ice to be more affordable to customers.

“When we were in the early stages of planning Dundalk on Ice we realised it was far more beneficial to offer skating sessions at a price more affordable to many more people.

“This way, we hope as many people as possible will have the opportunity to join in the fun of Dundalk on Ice.”

He added that the feedback to Dundalk on Ice has been amazing.

“Within days of launching our Facebook Page we are on our way to 4,000 likes and that can only grow as word spreads in the coming weeks.

“Plus we have a number of Facebook competitions planned in the run up to the opening date.

“We are also putting the finishing touches to the website www.dundalkonice.com which should go live over the weekend.

“The response to Dundalk on Ice has been extremely positive and we are delighted that so many people are excited about getting their skates on at the Market Square this Christmas season.”

Pre-booking for skating sessions at Dundalk on Ice will open next Monday, November 11.

Online booking will be available at www.dundalkonIce.com.

Bookings can also be made with cash at the Dundalk BIDS office at the Market Square.

Fiona Cunningham of Dundalk BIDs said the office is receiving plenty of phone calls about Dundalk on Ice.

“We have had a lot of phone calls, asking is the rink open yet, or when will it be open,” said Fiona “And we’re delighted to be able to say that the prices this year are even better value so we can’t wait to help people get their skating sessions booked in advance.”

In the coming weeks Dundalk on Ice will also announce details on a number of special themed skating sessions.

So, if you want to skate All Night to the Best Song Ever, see your Princess go to a Whole New World or you want to be like Frankie and relax back in the 80s then keep an eye on www.Dundalkonice.com or like the Dundalk on Ice Facebook page to find out more.

Over 15,000 people visited the Ice Rink last year and due to the reduction in ticket prices, special themed sessions and in general a better skating experience, there is the potential to attract up to 30,000 visitors to the Market Square this Christmas season.
