Omeath fashion student Bríd awarded prestigious internship

Fashion student Bríd McDonald, who is from Omeath, has been awarded an internship with Irish designer Joanne Hynes at the Griffith College Graduate Fashion Show 2014.

The Griffith College Graduate Fashion Show showcased emerging talent of the next generation of Irish fashion designers including Bríd.

Local designer Bríd is a third year student at the college and her design range named ‘Industrialisation’ takes inspiration from her father’s welding workshop.

Bríd, who works for Fitzpatrick’s Bar and Restaurant, also appeared on TV3’s entertainment programme Xposé at the graduates fashion show.

A native of Omeath, Bríd is a talented up-and-coming fashion designer who has just completed her final year of study of the BA (Hons) in Fashion Design at Griffith College.

She presented her graduate collection, ‘Industrialisation’ in front of Ireland’s leading fashionistas Cathy O’Connor and Lorna Weightman as well as top Irish designers Louis Copeland, Joanne Hynes and Helen McAlinden.

Fashion design student Bríd will now be starting a coveted summer internship with one of Ireland’s top designers, Joanne Hynes.

Compéred by supermodel Alison Canavan, the fashion show saw more than 50 first, second and third year students of the BA (Hons) in Fashion Design at Griffith College display their collections with models from the Morgan the Agency gracing the catwalk. Hair on the night was styled by David Marshall and makeup by Inglot.

The Graduate Fashion Show marked the start of student celebrations at the college with Griffith College Creative Week.

Griffith College Creative Week showcases Ireland’s up and coming talent in the areas of design, interior architecture, photography, film, digital media, music and drama, and computing science.
