It emerged yesterday, Monday, that incoming Mayors will see their salaries reduced by as much as 60% under new measures planned by the Environment Minister Phil Hogan. The amount paid to mayors in smaller counties will be capped at €20,000.

Incoming county councillors will see a €4,000 per annum cut in expenses availab le to them under the new plans.
