Kiernan winner of
TV3 Local Legend

Sixth class pupil, Kieran Lennon, from Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Kilkerley, has scooped first prize in the TV3 ‘Local Legend’ competition.  

Kieran had to nominate somebody in his community that he would describe as a ‘Local Legend’.  

And the person he nominated and wrote about is Marty Tracy.

Mary voluntarily designed and worked on a number of outdoor spaces at Kieran’s school.  

All the work Marty does in the school is voluntary and hardly a day goes by that she doesn’t call in to the school to work on or check on some or all of her projects.  

Marty is also a parent of two girls who attend Kilkerley national school.  

As a result of his success Kieran won a trip to Tayto Park for himself and his classmates.

And the presentation to Kiernan of his prize was made by TV3’s, Ireland AM crew.

It was was televised on Ireland AM.

So congratulations to Kiernan and everybody at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal Kilkerley.

And congraulations also to Marty on all that fine work.

Throughout the year, TV3 will be visiting different counties in Ireland and looking for a local legend.
