Camogie Association - AIB Volunteer of the Year & Media Awards 2013.
Recognition for Ann
Every club in the country has their own inspiring leaders and St. Annes’ Ann
Harrington is up there with the best of them. She has been, and is, one of the most
influential members of the club who has given years of service, commitment and
support to the Togher based club. Ann is well known in the mid-Louth area as her
giving nature stretches far beyond sport, she is a true lady who refuses to say “I
can’t” when a job needs doing.
She has had a long and distinguished career in Camogie as a player, administrator,
coach, fundraiser and was part of the victorious 1982 Louth All Ireland Junior team.
A native of Clare, she came to Louth 52 years ago to take up a teaching role in
Stabannon N.S. Since then she has been actively involved in Camogie in Louth.
. She is the current Treasurer of St. Anne’s, a position she has held for the past
27 years. She has coached many underage teams to success and is still actively
involved in all club matters. She was given the title “The Boss” many years ago
as she epitomizes everything that sport is about and has earned the utmost respect
from all her colleagues and friends in Togher.
Ann travelled to Croke Park on Sunday 2nd
which was held in conjunction with the All Ireland Club Championship Finals. The
recipients were honoured at a gala lunch hosted by RTE’s Joanne Cantwell. Ann
was presented with her award by President of the Camogie Association Aileen
Lawlor. It was a great occasion to see those wonderful people at grass roots that
are the bedrock of the association receiving recognition for their great work.
