A brilliant night was had by all at the recent Strictly Cooley Style. All the hard work put in by the dancers and the Strictly Committee paid off on the night. A large crowd came out on the night to support their favourite couple and were kept entertained all night by compere Colm Corrigan.
The winning couple was Sharon O’Toole and Fintan Murtagh who wowed the audience on the night. Second place went to Colleen and Oliver Murphy and in third place were Jenny McCumiskey and Aoghan McGuinness.
The club would all to thanks all sixteen couples who took part, for all their hard work practicing and all the sponsorship they raised for the event. They were all winners! The other couples who took part were Maria O’Reilly and Ben O’Connor, Ann Larkin and Sean Marks, Annmarie Thornton and Paddy Lawless, Lisa Maguire and Paul Boyle, Caoimhe McGrane and Alan O’Reilly, Orna McCartan and Declan O’Shaughnessy, Siobhan McDonald and Paul White, Aoife Traynor and Paddy Callan, Linda White and Gavin White, Claire and Sean Morgan, Katie McCann and Shane Hynes, Caitlin McArdle and Dean Arrowsmith and Margaret Hanlon and Conor White.
The show kicked off at 8pm with a group dance, a wonderful warm up for the main event, the couple dance. Each couple then took to the stage in turn to perform the dance they had been practicing for the last 6 weeks solid and the judges marked each performance out of 10 and the audience was then given their chance to vote.
The crowd was then entertained by another group dance before 11 couples were eliminated leaving just 5 in the running for the title. Each of the five couples performed their individual couple dance one more time before the judges had the final say on the places of first, second and third.
The club would like to thank Alicia Grills Grant and Rosie Watson for all their hard work training the dancers and putting the show together - it was all worth it in the end. They would also like to thank the host Com Corrigan, Mark Quinn for the lighting, sound and stage work, the judges Fiona Harold, Patricia Marm ion and Eric Lalor.
Thanks also go to Bernadette McCann for her fashion advice, Bernard O’Rourke and Collette Sheelan for the photography, Videographer Ben Corcoran, Graphic designer Michelle McMahon, Caretaker Peter Rice and the FAS and TUS workers for all the preparation and cleanup work. They would also like to acknowledge all those who generously sponsored the dancers and the brochure, the vote sellers and the shop sellers and the footballers for their performance on the night and all the helpers on the night and anyone else who helped to make the event such a success. Finally Cooley Kickhams would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket and voted - thank you very much for your support.
