Court hears of fatal work
accident

A company prosecuted by the Health and Safety Authority following the deaths of two employees a local grain plant, pleaded guilty at Dundalk Circuit Court last week.

A company prosecuted by the Health and Safety Authority following the deaths of two employees a local grain plant, pleaded guilty at Dundalk Circuit Court last week.

Terry Brennan (19) of Knockcorr, Knockbridge and Paul Farrell (35) of Cherrywood, Tallanstown died following an industrial accident at the Drummonds’ premises in Knockbridge four years ago.

Company Director Patrick Ryan entered the guilty plea last Friday morning on behalf of Drummonds Limited of Paddingstown, Clonee, County Meath, to failing to discharge the duty of an employer under the Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Act, on in and around Knockbridge on the 10th of August 2009.

Judge Rory MacCabe adjourned the case until today when a date for sentencing will be fixed.
