Dundalk poet Kathleen Maddy was a guest reader at the annual Patrick Kavanagh Festival in Inniskeen. She read from her forthcoming collection that includes Candlefort – the Whispering Lane, a poem dedicated to Patrick Kavanagh.

The poem was inspired by Kavanagh’s connection to nature and Kathleen’s memory of times past in rural Ireland.

Kathleen’s first book was launched at the Inniskeen.

The collection entitled Gold Rays describes Kathleen’s own journey of healing and spirituality.

The book attracted “considerable interest locally, nationally and internationally”.

It was described as a divine collection of poems “bringing you to a place of warmth, stillness, solace, beauty, peace and presence expressed in words”.

Since then she has written a number of collections.

Her latest collection Breath of December was published in May and has also proved to be an outstanding success.

Kathleen has been described as an inspirational poet and songwriter “with a deep connection to the truth and the beauty of life”.

“She writes from a place of silence and quiet reflection.”
