Cycle lanes for Ardee

ARDEE Town Council will appoint consultants in the next few weeks to outline a walk and cycling strategy for the town.

ARDEE Town Council will appoint consultants in the next few weeks to outline a walk and cycling strategy for the town.

The council has secured funding for the proposed project.

Cllr Pearse McGeough has advised that members of the council and officials look at the Dundalk project and learn from the difficulties that occurred there.

Several problems have arisen in Dundalk with the introduction of cycle lanes but in fairness Dundalk is a pilot project the leading the way in the country.

The Dundalk council engineers have ironed out problems with residents after problems arose because residents felt they had not been fully consulted about the changes the cycle lanes would bring into their streets.

Cllr Pearse McGeough has asked that the people of Ardee be fully consulted.
