I’m originally from Fatima Park, moved to Cox’s Demesne as a child and settled in Blackwater Court on the Avenue Road to raise my family.
Parents names and names of family?
My dad passed away six years ago, Brendan Fagan, an electrician by trade and my hero in real life. My mum is Maureen Fagan who still lives in Fatima and I have six brothers - Benny, Davie, John, Philip, Alan and Adam.
When did you leave and why?
I left Ireland in June 2012 and came to Brisbane to be near my children Meela and Vincant and to be a part of my new grandchild’s life.
What’s your occupation?
I’m a nurse working in Coronary Care.
What’s the biggest difference in settling into your new home?
The biggest difference I suppose is for me being a tenant as opposed to a home owner although renting has it’s advantages. The other differences didn’t take too long to get used to like the weather and the outdoor lifestyle.
Is the social life much different from home?
The social life is completely different here. There is no real pub culture. No “local” as such. Most people socialise with friends at their homes outside with a BBQ and few beers. It’s much more family orientated here.
