It has been announced that €1.3 million in grants has beeen approved to allow for the renovation of water mains in Dundalk and Drogheda.
Louth County Council can now accept the most economically advantageous tender, in the amount of €1,301,686.11 from O’Kane Civil Engineering for Louth Water Conservation Stage 3 Drogheda and Dundalk Bundle Advanced Works Contract No. 3.
Commenting on the funding, Minster Fergus O’Dowd said: “The objective of these works is to undertake watermain rehabilitation on a total of nine watermains in Dundalk and Drogheda.
““This is part of a total amount of €37 million allocated to Louth under the current Water Services Investment Programme.
“The Council intends to tender for two further watermains rehabilitation contracts; one for Dundalk and a separate contract for Drogheda, later this year.
“These works will reduce the amount of unaccounted for water in these locations, which reflects the Department’s commitment to water conservation measures as part of the Water Services Investment Programme.”
