Popular quayside venue the Spirit Store has announced some of the acts that will perform in the revamped upstairs gig room this May.

First up is Fionn Regan who will perform in the Spirit Store on Friday, May 3.

Barely a year after the release of his critically acclaimed and highest charting album to date ‘100 Acres of Sycamore’, Fionn Regan has returned with a brand new studio album ‘The Bunkhouse Vol. I: Anchor Black Tattoo’.

Self-recorded in his Bunkhouse studio with a 4-track and single microphone, the new album is Regan’s most stripped back album yet and shows the artist bursting with imagination and humour.

Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost 18 euros.

The Peripheral Visionaries who are Julie Feeney, Joe Chester, Nick Kelly, and Sean Millar will perform on Sunday, May 12.

Each of the four will perform some of their most famous songs, backed vocally and instrumentally by the other three.“

The idea was to be able to play a band show without the palaver and expense of actually hiring a backing band. And to have some fun”, says Nick.

Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost 12.50 euros.

On Thursday, May 16 Winnipeg singer-songwriter Ruth Moody will take to the Spirit Store stage.

Ruth is the founding member of the internationally renowned band, The Wailin’ Jennys and has performed in sold-out venues around the world, made numerous critically-acclaimed albums, received five Juno awards nominations, and has appeared on the American national radio show A Prairie Home Companion.

Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost 15 euros.

On Thursday, May 30, The Paperboys will fuse Mexican Son Jarocho mixed in with Irish Jigs and Reels and a good dose of Country and Bluegrass.

It has healthy servings of Ska, Soca and African Highlife and they have been known to throw in a little White Boy Reggae.

Of course it also has strains of Soul, Pop and Funk although we are by no means a funk band. It is mostly Acoustic although they also use electric guitars.

Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost 15 euros.

All tickets can be purchased from The Spirit Store, McAteers Food House, and online at www.spiritstore.ie.
