DkIT students were out in their numbers last week to attend a free FIFA 13 tournament in the college bar. The tournament was organised by four PR students, took the form of a 32-team straight knockout tournament and was accompanied by a live DJ.

Student’s male and female alike were in attendance to lend their support to the contestants and join in on the craic.

The event was organised to raise awareness for the ESN (Erasmus Student Network) and help them sign students up to be ‘Cairde Erasmus’ for next year’s incoming international students.

The function of a ‘Cairde’ is to be a liaison for new students, to welcome them, show them the town of Dundalk and our way of life.

“Becoming a Cairde is a great way to meet new friends and learn about different cultures,” said student Anthony Taylor, “I would recommend it to anybody who has a bit of spare time”.
