Dundalk band Third Smoke have made it to the final five of national search for Ireland’s Next Big Thing.
The public has spoken and Hot Press is are pleased to announce that Third Smoke has been selected in the final five of The Big Break.
It’s been a roller-coaster ride and votes came in, in their tens of thousands, from all over Ireland and further afield which shows the support out there for the finalists.
The local band consists of Hugh Donlon on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Joe O’Connor on lead guitar and backing vocals, Chris Rocks on drums and backing vocals, and Niall Clarke on bass and backing vocals.
“We’ve just heard that we made it to the final 5 bands in the Hot Press Magazine competition to appear on the front cover,” the band said.
“The winner will be announced in the next issue of Hot Press.
“A massive massive thanks for all the support from everyone.”
The band have just released a brand new single ‘People Are Messy’.
Accompanied by an excellent promo label A Very Important And Pseudo Scientific And Psychological Experiment. ‘People Are Messy’ explores themes of lonliness, anger and arousal, framed by Hugh Donlon’s impressive vocal work, catchy hooks, sharp melodies and soaring guitars.
The Louth four-piece have been busy, packing out quayside venue the Spirit Store six times as well as bringing their manic live energy to the Academy 2 and Whelan’s.
‘Final Five’ artists, including Third Smoke, will submit two additional tracks for consideration by the judges and the ultimate winner of The Big Break, will be announced in the next issue of Hot Press.
“We’ve been completely blown away and humbled by all the support we’ve been receiving,” said one band member, “thanks for all the support.”
The other contenders still in the running of the final stage of the competition are Kodakid, Katie Laffan, Miracle Bell and The Scenes.
