Haemochromatosis is a genetic condition that causes people to absorb excessive amounts of dietary iron. This excess absorption may in time lead to serious organ damage. Haemochromatosis is especially prevalent among Irish people.
McCabe’s Pharmacy Carroll Village pharmacist Emma Clarke said: “We’re excited to be hosting an event that focuses specifically on women’s health.
“In the current climate many women put their own health on the long finger for an array of reasons as they are juggling kids or their career or due to financial constraints.
“Having our nurse in-store provides the opportunity for these busy women to stop for a second and focus on their own well-being. “Many women don’t realise that these tests are so easily available and it’s our aim to make these more accessible and create greater health awareness in the community.”
McCabe’s Pharmacy has run a series of health events and seminars in the past year and continues to provide a programme of events to promote a higher health awareness amongst the community.
Tests are available by appointment only on Friday, June 8 at a reduced price. To book call 042-9352053.
