Ronan O’Sullivan with an address at The Granite Lodge, Ramstown, Gorey was prosecuted for having drugs for sale or supply and unlawful possession of drugs on the Dublin Road, Dundalk on the 18th of October last year.

The court heard gardai on mobile patrol had stopped a white Audi and after smelling cannabis, they carried out a search. They recovered two bags of cannabis and an electric weighing scales on the back seat as well as a quantity of money bag and a hand held blender with trace amounts of the drug.

The accused was searched at Dundalk Garda Station and the room he rented in Blackrock was also searched. The court was told the total value of the drugs seized was €227.

The defence solicitor said his client – who had no previous convictions, is a student locally and viewed the matter with the utmost seriousness. Judge Flann Brennan put the case back to the ninth of January so community service and probation reports could be prepared.
