Smashing Times Theatre Company is holding a free one day drama workshop in The Barbican, St Peter’s Parish Centre, Drogheda on Saturday 13th April 2013.
On the day, drama facilitator Idan Meir, will use the medium of drama to assist in drawing out the memories and experiences of people who have lived through or been affected by the conflict in Northern Ireland and the Southern border counties.
The storytelling drama workshop model provides participants with the opportunity to work off each other; to develop their creativity and to draw out stories collectively in a shared environment.
Usually, we ‘tell stories’ verbally, but the workshop explores a rich array of alternative forms of expression, opening up new ways for telling stories.
Sometimes images can trigger our memories, releasing something hidden, and during the workshop participants are encouraged to express whatever comes up for them.
The storytelling drama workshop provides support for those comfortable telling their stories and assists those who may find it more difficult.
Some experiences are very personal and intimate and can become uncomfortable to tell, but the drama workshop process provides a safe and supportive environment in which such stories can be told.
