The Good Works Opera are hosting an opera night in An Tain Theatre on Saturday, February 9.
Tickets cost 20 euro and are available from An Tain Theatre Box Office or by calling 042 9329532. Show starts at 8pm sharp.
The opera will feature Laura Gilsenan - soprano, Joyce Bryne - mezzo soprano, Patricia Hyland - tenor, Rory Musgrave - baritone and David O’Shea as pianist.
The event is in aid of the Dundalk Youth Centre and all funds raised on the night will go toward the youth creativity centre in Roden Place, Dundalk.
The Youth Centre provide a range of services for the young people of Dundalk including a Youth Café which is open after school.
They also provide a programme of creative workshops and training for young people using a range of methodologies such as drama, music, photography, creative writing, crafts, dance and film.
Leadership training and development for young people is also provided, which will be the foundation for further training in a Peer Education Drugs Awareness Programme.
The centre also provides an exhibition space and performance space for young people’s artistic work, a professional counselling service for young people, art therapy workshops, meditation room and garden space with stage that is also be used as a performance space for music concerts.
The vision of Dundalk Youth Centre is to create a supportive relational environment where young people in the community are welcomed, valued and encouraged to get in touch with and express their individual gifts through creativity and the arts.
