A local Dundalk woman is gearing up to celebrate the birthday night of her life in Dublin this Saturday, November 24.
Tara Callaghan, from Manydown Close, will appear on television screens across Ireland as she bids to win up to €500,000 on the popular RTE game show, Winning Streak.
Amazingly Tara is the third person from Dundalk to appear on the game show in the past three weeks.
On November 10, Bola Oni appeared on the show and went home with a total of 47,800 euro while just last Saturday, November 17, Declan Bergin left 41,200 euro richer.
When the Dundalk Democrat spoke to Tara she was still in shock and extremely excited.
“I still can’t believe it, I’m finding it hard to concentrate on anything else at the minute!”
Tara was in Dublin when she found out the news from her parents.
“I was getting ready for a night out with friends to celebrate my birthday early and when they rang and told me my name was called I didn’t believe them and thought they were having me on. Afterwards the night just exploded into a big celebration.”
Tara bought her lucky third star in Londis on the Point Road.
“I very rarely buy them and I just thought I may as well enter for the craic. That was only a week and a half ago.”
Tara, who works for Frank Lynch Accountants in Seatown, is keeping her feet firmly on the ground about the whole ordeal.
“Whether I win a tenner or ten thousand I’ll still be better off than I was before.
“I’ll probably use any money I win to firstly pay back bills and loans and it will be great to have the money coming up to Christmas. It couldn’t have come at a better time.”
Tara told the Democrat that she isn’t sure how many people can accompany her but she said the offers of support have been flooding in.
“I’m not sure how many I can take to the show but I’ve been getting requests from lots of people who want to come along, a few have taken days off work already!”
Hopefully I’ll be able to organise a bus to take them all to Dublin.”
Tara will appear on the game show, hosted by Marty Whelan and Geri Maye at 8.20pm this Saturday, November 24.
