Charged with welfare fraud

A 28 year old man accused of social welfare fraud appeared before Dundalk district court last week. Robert Gemis with an address at Bothar na Carraig, Lis na Dara, Dundalk is charged with obtaining money by deception from An Post, Clanbrassil Street Post Office, Dundalk on the 8th and 15th of October last and on the first of November.

He’s accused of falsely claiming 312 euro in job seekers allowance on each of the dates. After he was told that an adjournment was being sought as an protracted garda investigation was involved, Judge Flann Brennan put back the case to the 13th of February.
