Karate Kids earn their stripes

WITH any exam come nerves, but with 12 budding karate enthusiasts who were put to the test recently for their 10th Kyu (Yellow Stripe), they showed that they were born to be the next Bruce Lee.

Each and every member of IWKR (Ireland Wadokai Karate-Do Remnei) who grade for their 10th Kyu are put through a number of basic techniques, combinations and blocks. Considering that the youngest member is as young as 5 years of age, it is surprising that such high standards are achieved.

With members training 2 or 3 times a week in Blackrock and Reaghstown, it is hardly surprising that Sensei Tommy Marrett 4th Dan and Sensei Mary Marcus 1st Dan were delighted to award all who participated in the grading exam with their 10th Kyu. Congratulations to all.
