A provisional date has been set for Eilish Byrne’s civic reception

Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat, chairperson of the Dundalk Town Council, Jennifer Green said that a provisional date has been set for the civic reception of Eilish Byrne.

Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat, chairperson of the Dundalk Town Council, Jennifer Green said that a provisional date has been set for the civic reception of Eilish Byrne.

“We have set a provisional date of October 3rd at 6pm in the Town Hall as Eilish Byrne’s civic reception. Everybody is welcome to attend.

I realise that some people would prefer to have the reception at the Square but with the Irish weather being so unpredictable it is better if we hold it indoors.”

Councillor Green told the Democrat that she has been speaking with Eilish a few times regarding the reception.

“She has to travel to Armagh so we needed to find a date that suited her.

The last time I spoke to her she was happy with October 3rd but that could still change.”

Councillor Green had been on LMFM on Monday morning explaining that certain protocol had to be followed in arranging Eilish’s civic reception due to an incident with the civic reception of the Down Team in 2010, and thats why it had taken a while to organise.

“The civic reception is an honour bestowed by the people of Dundalk and it has to go through a certain process so it is not rushed.

We need to ensure that the maximum amount of people will be able to attend and it ensures that we are better prepared.”
