Unislim, Ireland’s longest established slimming club is celebrating its Ruby Anniversary after 40 years in business this month.
Local Unislim group leader Mary McArdle was one of the very first ever group leaders when the company first took off in 1972.
Last Thursday was a special day for the Dundalk Unislim group as Grainne Begley, from The Crescent in Dundalk, was presented with a certificate for losing seven stone.
A raffle was also held on the night for any member who had managed to lose a stone in six weeks and the lucky winner received a 50 euro voucher for Modern Fashions.
Group leader Mary also made a presentation to Anna McKeever, the longest serving group member in Dundalk, who has been there for an impressive 38 years.
Unislim has gone from strength to strength since it first opened in 1972.
The business now runs over 300 weekly classes around Ireland, with a dedicated team of 130 leaders and an incredible one million members have slimmed with Unislim.
Based on the principle of eating lots of ‘free’ foods, members achieve a realistic and recommended weight loss of 1-2lbs per week.
Members attend Unislim weekly for a weigh-in, motivational talk and lots of advice and help from their Unislim leader.
Classes cost 10 euro per week and as soon as you reach your personal target weight, which you decide upon when first joining, you can attend classes free of charge.
The Unislim group in Dundalk meets at the Hotel Imperial on Wednesdays from 5.30pm-6.30pm, on Thursdays there is an express class at 8.30am and a full class at 10.30am
