A DUNDALK woman who cut off her waist-length hair presented a cheque for e4,400 to the Cancer Research & Education Fund on Wednesday last.

Grainne Hearty presented the cheque to Liz Summersby of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda alongside her sister-in-law, Sylvia Coburn who is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Laura Bannon of Felda Spa, Alison Stevens of Tres Belle hair salon, and Elaine Teather were also on hand to present the cheque to the Oncology Unit.

“I’d like to thank everyone who donated so generously. An example of this is a family who suffered a bereavement and had a donations box instead of flowers for the funeral.

Sylvia Coburn from Bay Estate is currently undergoing treatment after she was diagnosed with cancer in September last.

“I’m undergoing chemotherapy in the Lourdes at the moment and will be finished in April. I feel a lot stronger and hope to get back to normality soon.”

Liz Summersby said: “We are very grateful for everything.”
