LOCALS are being encouraged to mark a number of upcoming exciting events into their diaries for the year ahead by the Dundalk Town Centre Commercial Manager’s (TCCM) Office.
The St Patrick’s Day celebrations organised for Saturday, March 17 will be followed by the Dundalk Half Marathon and 10k race on Wednesday, May 9.
The International Market is set to take place in the newly re-developed Market Square from May 25-27. Local producers will also take part in the event.
The Tain Festival is back again this year and will run from Thursday, June 7 to Saturday, June 9. It will include a fun, family-friendly weekend .
The festivities will see an encampment set up in the Market Square and a re-enactment of the battle between Queen Medb and Cu Chulainn.
Stalls and amusements are being organised for the day; which will culminate with a family-focused concert by a well known band.
The Euro 2012 Festival is due to begin on Sunday, June 10 with the Square hosting big screen viewings of the first Irish match against Croatia at 7.45pm.
The Spain Vs Republic of Ireland match will be screened on Thursday, June 14 at 7.45pm; and Italy Vs Republic of Ireland will be screened on Monday, June 18 at 7:45pm.
There will be stalls at the Square from Saturday onwards and entertainment will be provided for members of the public not keen on watching the match.
During its tour of the North East, a Model T Ford will be displayed at the Square on Saturday, July 7. Rounding off the year, is ‘The Nights of Lights’ Christmas Festival on November 16-17. For more information contact Dundalk TCCM on 042-9352842 or visit the TCCM Offices on Market Square.
