DUNDALK Racecourse Developments Ltd have applied to Dundalk Town Council for an extension to the planning permission, previously granted in 2006, to build a hotel at the racecourse on the Racecourse Road.
The proposed hotel would consist of 78 bedrooms and 88 suites, all with ensuites, as well as two bars, a conference centre, leisure centre, swimming pool and parking.
There would also be an ESB sub station on site as well as other associated works.
The application follows on from a recent similar one from Dundalk Institute of Technology.
Last month they reapplied for planning permission for a hotel on the campus of the college and had it renewed by Dundalk Town Council on the condition that it was built in the next three years.
The mixed use development comprises a hotel and conference centre, a faculty building, a student services centre, and a medical centre as well as a sports building with a bar and three office type buildings.
The college was also given the go ahead to construct roads and install car parking, footpaths and cycle paths on the site as well as lighting and landscaping. The sports building and bar will be 3,101 square metres with the office buildings 5,819 square metres.
