IT started off as little more than an idea for last month’s Arthur’s Day celebrations but Century Bar owner Pat Kerley’s Guinness cheesecake has quickly become a big hit with customers.
Pat, who also runs Quaglino’s Restaurant above the Roden Place bar, said he has been taken aback by the reaction to the cheesecake so far.
He said: “I wanted to do something to celebrate Arthur’s Day. Everyone has had Bailey’s cheesecake at one stage or another but I’ve never heard of anyone making a cheesecake out of beer or Guinness.
“I decided to give it a go though and it has quickly become a signature dish because it’s that popular.
“I used a base of oatcakes and the last one I made was really light and I was very pleased with it.
“The reaction to it has been very positive. We served it on Arthur’s Day and people have kept asking for it ever since.
“It’s flying out the door at the moment,” he said.
People can enjoy the Guinness cheesecake as part of The Century’s three course lunch for e12 offer or in Quaglino’s Restaurant.
The pub are also installing a new cold room in the next few weeks which Pat insists will improve the quality of the beers they serve.
