DUNDALK Town Councillor Oliver Morgan has asked the town council to reduce the rent on the Dundalk ICTU centre at Mullaharlin Park.
he said the centre is struggling to provide a service to the local community’s children and called for the rent to be reduced from 1,000 euro to 500 euro.
The councillor was told that negotiations are currently taking place on the rents issue but no reduction on that scale is invisaged.
In fact, an official said that if business rents are reduced it has to affect other services.
“Next year’s budget will be horrendous,” Town Clerk Mr Frank Pentony said and a reduction of the kind that is being asked for is not practical.
