THE Ardee Turfman Festival at the weekend was a huge success.
The town was buzzing with festival fever on this the third festival once again financially backed by Louth Leader Partnership.
There were art exhibitions by adults and children, historical tours, charity fun run, Ardee Flower Club’s fabulous floral displays and the Ardee Active retirement group’s lace making.
The Ardee Historical Society had two mystery bus tours. The historical society also conducted full guided tours of the Castle.
The Ardee 10k run/walk took place on Saturday.
Artist Susan Farrelly provided sculpturing demostrations. There was an art exhibition in the old McCabes garage, run by Rachel Tomas and also a childrens art exhibition on John Street opposite the Catholic Church run by Donna Halpenny.
On Sunday there were market stalls on the main street, family picnics at the Fair Green, a dancemania at 2pm and an Ardee Concert Band pprom. There was bouncy castles supervised by the wonderful Ardee Order of Malta.
Ardee Youth Club also provided face painting in the Fairgreen on Saturday and Sunday.
The Tour de Bog - family fun cycle was on Sunday and on Monday the 50km cycle run was held by the Ardee Cycling group who raised funds for the Irish Wheelchair Association. There was a balloon release to finish the festival on Monday at the Riverside Walk and then dancing at Ardee Parish Centre.
It was another great success.
