THE tax implications for councillors who allocate money from their allowances to voluntary organisations was raised by independent councillor Jim Ryan at the monthly meeting of Dundalk Town Council.
“I think this is totally outragous,” Cllr Ryan said, when he referred to the fact that organisations will now have to fill out forms and give details of all funds they receive.
“I have handed out council application forms but people are now afraid to hand them back.
“I think it is important that the Government is not pressuring groups.
“With all the white-collar criminality and skullduggery that has been going on I think it is disgraceful that the Department of Finance has come up with this.”
