Job Shadow Day, which took place on Wednesday 9th April, saw over 600 people with a disability shadow at 560 workplaces throughout Ireland.
IN Dundalk, David Michie supported by STEP, shadowed Senator Mary Moran on Job Shadow Day which took place last week as part of National Supported Employment Week 2014.
The highlight of IASE National Supported Employment Week, Job Shadow Day saw over 600 people with a disability shadow at 560 workplaces throughout Ireland.
Job Shadow Day gives people with disabilities the unique opportunity to discover and learn about the skills and education required to compete and succeed in the workplace.
Now in its 7th year, the experience provided on Job Shadow Day has proven to be invaluable for the employers, workers and people with disabilities involved.
Following on from its success in Ireland, National Supported Employment Week, to include Job Shadow Day, is set to rollout in Europe, with 12 countries already committed to take part in 2015.
IASE Chairman Greg Barry commented: “Job Shadow participation has increased annually and is an excellent partnership between employers large and small, local supported employment services and IASE.
