Stole e5,000 from father

A HAGGARDSTOWN man has appeared before Carrickmacross District Court on charges that he stole over €5,000 from his father in a botched burglary.

A HAGGARDSTOWN man has appeared before Carrickmacross District Court on charges that he stole over €5,000 from his father in a botched burglary.

Anthony Connolly, 20 Clooneevan, Haggardstown, Blackrock was appearing court to face the charges relating to an incident on 30 July 2012.

Another charge relating to a Mrs Meegan, Connelly’s grandmother, had been dropped as she did not wish to testify against him.

The court heard that e5,420 was taken in the case, not all of which had been returned.

Judge Sean MacBride was also told that there was not violence in the case.

Gardaí said that there was a still shot from CCTV that placed Connolly’s car near the scene at the time of the burglary.

Judge MacBride was going to order that Connolly (20) be ordered stay away from his alleged victim, but the court heard that he and his father were repairing their relationship and that he was being helped to reabiliate himself from his former behaviour.

Judge MacBride described it as an unusal case.
