St. Josephs National School on the Avenue Road held their annual Green Schools Week last week and all pupils took part in a range of interesting events throughout the week.

On Monday and Tuesday the National Road Safety Authority came to the school and gave a highly visual and interactive presentation called ‘Street Smart’ which teaches kids about road safety.

Susan Doorley from An Taisce also paid the school a visit to conduct workshops with fourth, fifth and sixth classes.

The school also encouraged pupils to walk or cycle to school as part of the travel theme of their Green Flag programme.

On Thursday sixth class presented a fantastic fashion show of costumes which they made from recycled materials and both pupils and teachers throughly enjoyed the show.

They ended their week of events on Friday by taking part in the National Spring clean and pupils tackled some of the areas close to the school.
