A new burrito bar is due to open it’s doors to local Mexican food lovers this summer.
Dundalk’s very own Mexican cantina will be called California Burrito and will serve various Mexican dishes such as signature burritos, quwsadillas and carne asada fries to name but a few.
The new restaurant will be located at 19-20 Park Street, the location of the former ACC Bank building and is owned by Paul Duffy who was granted planning permission to turn the building into a restaurant.
The restaurant will cater for groups as well as takeaway, delivery and catering.
A spokesperson for the restaurant made a special announcement on their Facebook page on Sunday, May 5 which is Cinco De Mayo, a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.
“Amigos, Cinqo de Mayo is upon us, so we can anounce that we will be located at Park Street,” the spokesperson revealed.
“We will be starting our fit out in June and hopefully you all can join us in July. Hasta Pronto.”
Locals will also be able to take part in a competition the burrito bar calls ‘El Loco Hombre’.
Participants put 10 euros down and anyone that can finish the restaurant’s special burrito not only gets 50 euros but also gets their photo on the ‘Wall of Flame’.
Those who fail, forfeit the cash and enter the ‘Wall of Shame’!
Any local amigos who are looking for jobs will also be happy to learn that the restaurant is on the look out for staff and has been inundated with requests already.
They are looking for both servers and kitchen staff and have set up an email, firstname.lastname@example.org which you can email your CV to.
However it is worth noting that no emails will be replied to until June when the shop is fitted out.
In the meantime you canfind California Burrito on Facebook by searching ‘California Burrito Dundalk’ or follow them on Twitter using the handle @Calidundalk.
