People urged to return housing forms

DUNDALK Town Council housing applicants should return the housing needs assesment forms sent to them even though the closing date has expired.

DUNDALK Town Council housing applicants should return the housing needs assesment forms sent to them even though the closing date has expired.

Senior executive officer Dave Storey told members of Dundalk Town Council that if people have not filled in the forms they should bring them in to the council and the assessment unit willdecide on the matter.

People who fail to complete the assessment risk losing their Rent Supplement payments. In addition, anyone who doesn’t complete the assessment and is removed from the housing list will lose the benefit of the time they’ve already spent on the list if they reapply later.

Cllr Jim Ryan, Chairman of the Housing Strategic Policy Committee previously stated that while some people’s circumstances will have changed, it’s obviously disappointing that such a large number of households have failed to return this form which allows our housing needs assessment unit to more accurately gauge the number of people eligible for social housing who require it in our county. The consequences are potentially very serious for anyone who neglects to complete this form.”
