Local singer/songwriter Sinead McNally won the Best Female and Best Pop Award at the Music Review Unsigned Awards on Sunday night.
The award show was held in The Mercantile on Dame Street in Dublin and Sinead is “over the moon” to have won.
As she announced her victory on Twitter the messages of congratulations started to flood in and the singer told followers she was chuffed to have won, as it is the first thing she has ever won in her life and so she was delighted it was a music award.
Sinead has had quite the year so far with her triumph at the MRU Awards the cherry on top of a great year.
In August she released her EP ‘10,000’ with tracks from the record play-listed or getting regular play on LMFM, C103, KFM, Northern Sound, Galway Bay FM, Tipp FM, Spirit Radio, South East Radio among many more community based stations, internet radio stations and national radio stations.
In August Sinead, who is from Blackrock, performed in the Olympic Park at the 2012 Olympics, she performed three tracks off her EP ‘10,000’ during three different time slots in front of thousands of Olympian guests.
This fantastic opportunity was offered to Sinead through the online music community known as Unsigned Band Review (UBR), which is free to join and offers feedback to bands and artists from top music industry experts.
Sinead has been recieving rave reviews about her music from all over the country with one reviewer describing her as
“McNally’s vocal style owes a little to Sinead O’Connor and Dolores O’Riordain, and her fine piano fills are reminiscent of Bruce Hornsby… McNally is a promising talent in a pop-rock sort of way.”
Chris De Burgh has even sent her a Tweet of support.
“Chris De Burgh left me a lovely message about my music.
“It’s not every Saturday afternoon you chat to such music royalty, nice surprise.
“I know I was blown away when he left me the few messages, it’s great to have that kind of feedback and support.”
It also appears that her music is being recognised over seas as well with one of her songs being pitched for one of the contestants on the German X-Factor to release as a single.
“Delighted to hear today that ‘Something Has Changed’ is being pitched for the German X-Factor.
“I’m not sure how many songs are being pitched but delighted its on its way for consideration.
“Thanks to EMERAZ for the opportunity to apply, I’m delighted to have made it through.”
Getting in the Christmas spirit recently, Sinead performed at Scoil Rince Móna Ni Rodaigh’s ‘A Christmas Cracker’ with Frantic Jack.
“I had an absolutely brilliant night at the Scoil Scoil-Rince Mona Ni Rodaigh ‘Christmas Cracker’.
“What a show and a huge thank you to all the people and children who bought my CD’s.
“I was overwhelmed by the response by people of all ages.”
Sinead’s Christmas song ‘Nearly Christmas’ is also always a huge hit on Christmas FM and Radio Snowflake every year so tune in to see if you can catch it!
