Seafood businesses in Co Louth have been endorsed by BIM, the Irish Sea Fisheries Board at the BIM Seafood Circle 2011 Awards.

Seafood businesses in Co Louth have been endorsed by BIM, the Irish Sea Fisheries Board at the BIM Seafood Circle 2011 Awards.

Fisherman's Catch Fresh Fish Shop in Clogherhead; Johnny Morgan's Fishshop, Dundalk; Kirwan's Fishcart, Drogheda; and Morgan's Fine Fish in Omeath are Co Louth Seafood Specialist members.

Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick's Bar and Restaurant, Dundalk; Little Strand Restaurant, Clogherhead and Magee's Bistro, Clogherhead are Bar & Restaurant members.

The Seafood Circle plaque is presented to members on an annual basis and BIM encourage customers to seek outlets with this badge of honour in order to be assured of the best seafood available.

The BIM Seafood Circle 2011 Award winners and coveted membership places were announced by Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture Sean Connick announced the winners and members on January 24.

This year's 'Innovation & Development' Award went to Kirwan's Fish Cart in Drogheda for "their ongoing commitment to innovative thinking in their premises".

The Seafood Circle was developed by BIM to support and champion retail and hospitality outlets that continually offer excellent quality seafood and service to their customers.

"The fact that the Seafood Circle is growing despite the stringent criteria that need to be met...is inspiring," said Mr Connick.
