Toddlers Hill has a management team comprising of Director, Manager, Deputy Manager and Child Care Leader. The purpose of the management team is to ensure best practice for all the children and families in our care. Jeanne Thorne is Director. Jeanne has twenty-four years experience in childcare and a master’s degree in family support. Clare Farrelly is the Manager. Clare has been with Toddlers Hill since June 2008. Clare initially started as a Montessori teacher so she has a good understanding of all the systems in Toddlers Hill. Sinead Donnelly is the deputy manager of Toddlers Hill Sinead has been working there since they first opened. Sinead has grown with the service. Amie O’Neill is the child care leader. Amie has been with Toddlers Hill since May 2008. All full time staff hold a minimum of level five in child care but of the current full time team over two thirds hold Fetac level 6 and above.

“We prioritises partnership with parents,” said Director Jeanne Thorne. “This is evident in our annual calendar of events as family participation is a key feature. Each Christmas we have a tree lighting ceremony which involves the children turning on the lights on an outdoor tree. “We have carol signing which is the official launch of our Christmas season. We have the obligatory visit from Santa and are very privileged to have Santa visit every room in Toddlers Hill. He spends the whole morning hearing all the news from the boys and girls.

“Then in February we all forget to get dressed and have our annual pyjama day where we lounge about in our pj’s and have breakfast all day. This year muself and two of the teachers Lorraine and Tara went down to Ardee in our pyjamas to raise some extra funds. It also raised an eyebrow or two! We also had a Mother’s Day art competition where the dad’s and children had to draw a picture explaining why their mum was the best. We will be holding an art competition for Father’s Day in June.

“However May and June are the highlight of our calendar of events at Toddlers Hill. The last Friday in May is the Big Toddle for Barnardos. We take over the green in front of the Crèche and we do a minimum of ten laps in which everyone gets involved. Mams, Dads, Grannies and Granddad’s all join in the events. Clare Farrelly and Sinead Donnelly our Deputy Manager has developed the Toddle into a grand event through the kind sponsorship of local business who are also parents of Toddlers Hill. These are Moorehall Lodge Nursing Home, Fushia House, Envy Hair Salon, Dunnes Spar in Stamullen and The Language School Dundalk. This year we will have a dj spinning some tunes to speed us up and keep us motivated. We will also have an ice cream van on site to help us cool down. The children are very excited and take raising sponsorship for Barnardos very seriously.

“The final event of the year is our graduation ceremony in June. If we were to sum up life in Toddler’s Hill it is about a child coming in with a smile knowing today is going to be fun and being reluctant to leave.”
