AN EPISODE of RTE’s new show Secret Millionaire will feature Dundalk.
The popular Channel 4 show, which sees multi-millionaires going under cover into impoverished communities in a bid to seek out potential beneficiaries, has now made it to these shores.
The announcement was made as the national broadcaster launched a raft of new shows that are set to be broadcast over the next few months.
The episode which features a millionaire going under cover in Dundalk is understood to have already been filmed.
The Dundalk Democrat contacted Animo, the Dublin based production company that worked on the show, and a spokesperson for the company confirmed that the episode based in Dundalk had indeed been filmed.
In a statment to the paper they said: “Three very different Irish millionaires turn their back on their day-to-day lives and go undercover in some of the most disadvantaged parts of Dublin, Cork and Dundalk.
“Their search, for genuine local Irish charities, brings them face to face with some of our most pressing social problems including suicide, poverty, drugs, disability and much more. On their journey they find extraordinary Irish people working selflessly everyday to help people in their own communities.”
Some commentators have questioned whether a show of this nature could work in Ireland, where everyone knows everyone, not least millionaires.
