Town holds first High Nelly cycle

TWO local men are calling on cyclists in the Dundalk area to get on their High Nellys for a fundraising vintage cycle tour.

TWO local men are calling on cyclists in the Dundalk area to get on their High Nellys for a fundraising vintage cycle tour.

Sean Duffy from Newtownbalregan and John Dooley from Ballymakellet, Ravensdale are asking members of the public to join them on a cycle from Dundalk to Carlingford on Saturday, August 20.

“We are putting aside our modern bikes for old High Nelly Hercules, Triumph, Rudge and Humber. It is all part of the Haiti Charity cycle ride organised by Cuchulainn Cycling Club to support myself and John. We are going to Haiti as Haven Partnership volunteers to build houses,” said Sean.

Entry to the race costs e25 and High Nelly bikes are available to use to its advisable to be at the starting point at 2.30pm.

The cyclists, some of whom will be dressed in fancy dress, will set off from Aura Leisure Centre on St Alphonsus Road at 3.30pm and are expected to arrive at Taaffes Castle Carlingford at 6pm. For more details or to reserve a bike telephone Sean on 087-6597273.
