A DUNDALK man is amongst thousands who have been caught up in the major floods which have terrorised Australia in recent weeks.
Wayne Griffin, originally from Greenacres, now resides in Brisbane with his fiance Michelle Humphreys but the weather he expected when the 31-year-old moved Down Under a number of years back has certainly not been around in recent weeks as the state of Queensland has been flooded out of it, with thousands of people losing their homes.
Wayne has not been so unfortunate but has been without power for some time, making it difficult to live day to day.
He said: "We are in a flooded suburb in Brisbane's west called Moggill. Our house is fine as we built on high ground but many houses in the lower streets have been flooded and our local shopping centre was four metres under water until recently.
"The flood waters rose quickly last Tuesday and myself and Michelle had to leave work early before the roads were flooded. By Tuesday evening all the roads in and out of Moggill were metres under water and resembled rivers, some up to 100 metres wide."
Wayne has been cut off from the rest of rest of Brisbane and remains without power.
He said: "It's a bit like a war zone around here."
