LOUTH senior football manager Peter Fitzpatrick has yet to officially make his mind up whether or not to accept Fine Gael's invitation to put his name forward as a nominee for their upcoming convention to decide their local General Election candidates.

LOUTH senior football manager Peter Fitzpatrick has yet to officially make his mind up whether or not to accept Fine Gael's invitation to put his name forward as a nominee for their upcoming convention to decide their local General Election candidates.

Well-placed sources within the party have hinted that the Belfry Gardens man will be putting his name forward but speaking to The Dundalk Democrat on Tuesday, Fitzpatrick said he had not yet made his mind up.

The father of three said last week that he would make a decision one way or the other by Monday but he has now extended that deadline until this Thursday.

Fitzpatrick is understood to be discussing the move with his bosses before giving a firm commitment.

Mid-Louth councillor Colm Markey is another yet to make his mind up.
