Councillors Edel Corrigan and Jim Loughran have been nominated to represent Sinn Fein at next year’s local election.

The councillors will contest the newly formed Dundalk/ Carlingford electoral area.

Both canidates said they were honoured and delighted to represent the party at the forthcoming election.

“Since I was elected by the people of the Dundalk Carlingford Area to Louth County Council in 2009 I have done my best to represent all the people to the best of my ability and it has been an honour to do so,” Cllr Corrigan said.

“With their support I look forward to joining a stronger Sinn Féin team on the council next May.”

Cllr Loughran said: “I hope the people of Dundalk Carlingford will continue to support me as they have done in the past two local elections.

“These are challenging times for everyone and I feel the least people can expect is good local representation which I truly believe myself and my Sinn Féin colleagues are providing and will continue to do so.”

Cllr Harry Todd is the only Sinn Fein candidate on the Town Council who will not be contesting next year’s election.
