SNOW ALERT: Louth set to get first lying snow of the winter

THE first lying snow of the winter in Co Louth has been predicted by weather forecasters for the weekend over the higher Cooley Mountains.

According to weather forecasters Thursday to Sunday will be cold in Co Louth with day time values no higher than 7 degrees celsius on Thursday and Sunday.

It is likely to be colder still on Friday and Saturday with temperatures dropping to just 5 degrees celsius. Frost is predicted for night time. However, it will be generally dry with good drying.

There will also be some fine winter sunshine. A few showers are expected and these could produce the first lying snow of the winter in the county.
