Two pedestrians, understood to be women, have been killed along a stretch of the N2 close to Hunterstown outside Ardee this evening.
It is believed the two women, who were in their 60s, were stepping off a bus when they were hit by a passing vehicle.
The main Dublin to Derry road has been closed at Hunterstown, following the collision.
Emergency services are at the scene.
Gardai are advising motorists to avoid the area if possible.
