Dundalk Positive Mental Health (DPMH) held a series of events last week as part of its annual event to highlight mental health issues.
"This is our fourth Positive Mental Health Week,” said Mary Moran chairperson of Dundalk Positive Mental Health.
“Each year we have added more events to highlight the importance of positive mental health.”
The week began with a fun walk along the Navvy Bank.
On Monday, Derek Pepper, vice chairperson of DPMH and Shine, hosted a radio programme on Dundalk FM with contributions from service providers, fellow members of the forum, from Dundalk Outcomers, an Garda Siochana, Grow, HSE, Dundalk Counselling Centre and Turas Counselling.
On Tuesday there was a coffee morning at the Oriel Centre Old Gaol.
On Wednesday the highlight of the week was the launch of the popular annual art exhibition in the Carroll Building DkIT by our Irish rugby international stars Rob and Dave Kearney. The art exhibition continued throughout the week with exhibits from local people.
On Thursday Alan McCabe from DkIT hosted a cookery demonstration in the college with lots of healthy eating ideas for positive mental health.
This event was highly popular last year and proved another great success this year. There was an information stand in the Marshes shopping centre throughout the week featuring information on local mental health services.
"I would like to thank everyone on the steering committee who continue to share their experiences in their own area of mental health to promote positive Mental Health and well being,” said chairperson Mary Moran.
